PONTUS LÖWENHIELM
Pontus Löwenhielm is widely acknowledged as one of the advertising industry’s top commercials directors working as part of the directing collective Traktor. His work in TV and Film has also garnered widespread praise and attention.
In 1997 Pontus wrote and directed his first TV series, Kenny Starfighter, together with Mats Lindberg, also of Traktor, and Carl Åstrand. In 1999 he co-directed the movie Chain of Fools with fellow Traktor collaborator, Patrik von Krusenstjerna. The film starred Elijah Wood, Tom Wilkinson, Jeff Goldblum, Steve Zahn and Selma Hayek amongst many others.
After a further stint in advertising, Pontus moved back to television in 2014 to co-direct the Swedish comedy show Morran and Tobias with Mats Lindberg, which was awarded Best TV Show of the Year in Sweden by Kristallen as well as Best Comedy show in Sweden by Humorgalan. In 2022 he co-wrote and directed a new season of Kenny Starfighter.
After graduating from Stockholm's Bergh School of Communication and Arts, Pontus and four fellow students founded Traktor, which has officially become recognized as the most awarded advertising director(s) in the world. The haul includes three Grand Prix wins and twenty other prizes at Cannes Lions, an Emmy, a Grammy nomination and another five Emmy nominations.
Pontus is best known for commercials for Ubisoft, Lego, Miller Lite, Diesel Jeans, Levis, Mountain Dew, GE, T-Mobile, Virgin Atlantic, and Booking.com. Traktor has received the coveted Chairman’s Award at the British Arrows as well as being rated as the UK’s No1 Director by Campaign Magazine for the third time.
Alongside Film, TV and advertising work, Pontus also directed the Grammy nominated music video Die Another Day for Madonna.
Pontus divides his time between Los Angeles, London and his native Sweden.
